In this Tools of the Trade webinar, we'll be featuring a video-creating product that we’ve been using for years called Content Samurai.
The Content Samurai video creator is a digital marketing tool by Noble Samurai – an already established and trusted company in SEO (search engine optimization) and the digital marketing niche.
We have had a few webinars in the past addressing the use of video for content marketing for our businesses and we know that video marketing is important. Video content is so popular these days that how it is being used has become a Social Media trend. We know that the internet HAS really changed and video is the type of content that is most often viewed for the longest amount of time.
The great thing about Content Samurai is that it gives you the ability to create a ton of high-quality videos FAST!
If you want to create your own video, you can sign up for a free 7-day trial, and follow along with the webinar.
Let's get to it!
Creating and Editing Content Samurai Video Productions
The first thing we want to do is to grab some text to use for our video. For this demonstration, we are going to be repurposing some content from a post to create a video.
Then, we head over to the COntent Samurai Application (App). Upon logging in, it’s easy to see the big “Create New Video” button, but there is a neat little area for you to be able to place your videos into folders to keep them organized. Our technique is to keep each client’s, or each website’s videos in its own folder.
Content Samurai Templates
To create a new video, you get to choose which template that you’d like to use. Content Samurai has a vast selection of templates. And each template has settings within it that can be customized.
For creative ideas, COntent Samurai begins by asking you which type of video you wish to create. ANd then, offers templates created specifically for those type of videos. However, you can still create any type of video using any type of template available.
Types of Templates
What do you want to create?
- Video from an article or blog post
- A sales video
- A video for my online course
- A video for social media
- A property listing video
Adding Your Script
Once you choose a template, the next step is to name your video and add the script. Our script is the content we copied from our post earlier. We separate our content by hitting the return key on our keyboard between each sentence. We found this works better later when we are adding our voice recordings.
In the left column of Content Samurai, you can also see that we have options for how we want, or don’t want, the Content Samurai to assist us when we create the slides. You may choose the settings that work best for you. Depending on the type of video and your process for branding your videos, not having some of the variables selected may make editing the slides later easier.
Adding Images and Video Clips to Your Video
Now that the script is ready, the next step is to let Content Samurai get to work creating our scenes. This process takes creative commons licensed images and video clips and places them into our scenes matching them as best they can with the words from our script. We have complete control over what will, or will not, be displayed on each scene through the video once the app completes this segment of the process.
Though you do not have to go through each scene, our video creating process includes editing the scenes once they are generated. This allows us time to catch any potential spelling errors, grammar issues, and ensures that our longer sentences make sense when they need to be split to more than one scene.
Each scene also has a number of control options on them. Including different options when the scene is filled with an image vs. a video clip. We can hide text, hide media, position images, and control motion. You also have the option of preventing background music from playing over the top of any video clips that you add that might already include sound.
If you don’t like the idea of using free images, you can always upload your own images, video clips, and even soundtracks or audio recordings.
After we changed the slide images and words within each slide to display the way that we prefer, we move to the next step and record our audio.
One of the nicest features of Content Samurai is that it breaks up the verbiage for each slide into smaller chunks of content to record. This means if we make a mistake while recording, we do not have to re-record all of our script, just the portion where the mistake is made. This saves a ton of time in the in the scheme of things.
There are other options available should you not want to record your own voice recording too. Content Samurai offers automated voice options in male or female, along with any number of alternative accents.
Automated Voice Option Accents:
- United States – 3 female and 3 male
- UK – 2 female and 2 male
- Australia – 2 female and 2 male
Perhaps you might choose to outsource a voice-over or pre-record your audio. You have the option to upload a voice recording instead of recording through the video creator, too.
And if your video does not require voice audio, there is a music only option. Choose from the free music available or upload your own soundtrack in the next step.
Proof and Preview
The last creative step of the video creation process is to preview your creation. This is also the section where you choose or upload your background music. There are quite a few free audio soundtracks to choose from.
Be sure to select the sound level of your background music. We found that someplace between 20% and 30% is a good balance when the voice track is set to 100%. Another setting to consider is the speed of the voice track. Often times, speeding up a voice track slightly will make a voice sound a bit more excited which in turn may create a better conversion for your video.
Play through your video (we use the manual mode) and adjust any slides with the voice track. Placing the slide slightly ahead of the spoken sound works well and combines smoothly with the visual display.
When all is well, Click on the “Looks Good” button
Downloading Your Video for Marketing
The final step in the video creation process is two-fold. First, we need to generate the video. Generating the video takes the most amount of time. Well, maybe not literally, but it seems like it because all you can do is wait for it to complete – and when we are waiting for something it never seems to go fast enough.
Regardless, once the vide has generated a “Download” button is available and you can download the MP4 video to your computer. Now you have the formatted video you need to be able to post in your blog, on social media, or link to from an email.
